Press Release: Pittsfield High School announces Paul Petty as Head Saukee Football Coach
After a four month search for a new head football coach, the Pikeland Board of Education conditionally offered the position to Pikeland School Board member Paul Petty at its regular meeting on Wednesday evening. After consideration and the resignation of his school board seat, Pittsfield native and Saukee alumni Paul Petty has accepted the position of head football coach for the Pittsfield Saukees.
“We are excited about the enthusiasm and experience that Mr. Petty brings to the position” says Pittsfield High School Principal Angie Greger. “He has been a volunteer and coach for the Saukees for over 12 years and has worked closely with previous head coaches giving him the knowledge and understanding of our school’s philosophy and tradition.”
Petty indicated that his decision to move from a school board member into the role of head coach was one of great difficultly, but ultimately he considered the move as an opportunity to directly influence young people on a daily basis both on and off the field. Petty clearly understands the pride previously established at Pittsfield High School by former players and coaches and hopes to continue the long established tradition.
Petty would like to thank the Pikeland Board and administration for the opportunity to continue to serve the school district in this manner and looks forward to getting started immediately.
