Dear Parents,
Since the Illinois State Board of Education released guidance from the Illinois Department of Health and the CDC on how to safely reopen schools for the 2020-2021 school year, the South School staff has been working to determine what this will look like at South School for the start of school year.
Some of the regulations will make our school days look different. We will all need to wear masks, engage in social distancing, certify that we are symptom free each day, and control the flow of traffic to limit any space in the school to just 50 people.
The purpose of this post is to share a few of the highlights from the South School reentry plan for this unprecedented school year. The following document should provide a better understanding of the key parts of a student’s day. Our whole school day is built around limiting the exposure of students to the fewest number of other people each day.
What hasn’t changed at South is the care and compassion the staff at South School brings to make school fun, achieve high levels of learning, and build relationships with our students to last a lifetime. The rules of operation have changed this year, but the staff is still mostly the same team that has always worked to make South School feel like home.
Please take a few minutes to review the attached images. While some information might change, the school and district will continue to share current updates that will include videos and documents as we get closer to the start of school. Please visit www.pikeland.net and our district/school social media pages often to get the latest information.
Thank you for your support!
The South Family
